MUSIC PRODUCTION

Faced with an undeniable addiction to music, I left my job and life in Ottawa to go pursue an education in Music Production.

Moving to London, ON, I attended the M.I.A. program (Music Industry Arts) at Fanshawe College. Received my diploma and took another year to pursue a complimentary Digital Music Applications post grad certificate. I then proceeded to flex my creative muscles composing musical scores for short films as well as handling Sound Design (creation & Foley).

Currently, in my spare time, I play guitar and write music when the mood strikes me. Here is some of my favourite works.

FILM MUSIC & SOUND DESIGN

I started messing around with music for picture when I was 19-20. I had a friend who was really into making movies so I was lucky to have the opportunity. Ever since then I have been making cinematic soundscapes in my spare time.

The first Short Film I worked on for Brookstreet Pictures. I composed the score and did the foley and sound design . I used Reason for the score, and Pro Tools for the foley and mix.

Interesting fact: I worked on this while at Fanshawe College. Recording the foley for the gore was fun in the studio. I used watermelons, tomatoes, celery… a bunch of fruit and vegetables. The music was done in my small apartment room and I used a vhs tape of the locked edit and manually timed it for the sync using play and pause…

I only had an 380p rip of the locked edit I used to sync to. The audio is not that bad here, good enough to get the idea.

This is the 2nd short film I worked on. I composed the score and did the foley. I used Reason for the score, and Pro Tools for the foley and mix.

Interesting fact: I used the mannequins bodies for the percussion in the score.

Thanks to Zane Delorean for uploading a decent quality version to YouTube. I am in the process of compressing and uploading other films I worked on here, hopefully I can get an full HD version of this as well.

This is the 3rd short film I worked on. I composed the score and did the foley . I used Reason for the score, and Pro Tools for the foley and mix.

Interesting fact: Pretty much all of the audio had to be completely redone, so almost everything you hear had to be recorded using Foley. Shoutout to all the friends who helped by being foley actors for me!

I had to compress the heck out of this video and the original quality of the file I had was pretty low res to begin with. The audio is not bad, if not a bit over compressed. Not all the foley was supposed to be so loud… live and learn right?
